Few companies can do what we do. Thus our site can be intimidating at first. It is large with large pictures. We are not afraid to show our quality and our photographer is not afraid to get up close since that shows the detail. I know, I am the webmeister and the photographer, but also a shooter and as they like to say in Washington, the devil is in the details, thus we offer transparency in the details. It is in the pictures. Maybe one day our government will be that open.
The little guy alongside indicates much of the site is under re-construction so we apologize for the delays but with a couple hundred pictures and thousands of words this site should be one of the best on web for the shooting enthusiast.
Many of these firearms shown are customers guns. Some are our personal firearms, and you won't be able to tell the difference. We treat your firearm as it is our own.

This site covers all firearms types, all refinishing chemistries, all gunsmithing processes for the four basic firearms designs, information on the shooting sports, and thats how it is split below, some groups are so popular and diverse the amount of information given forced us to split them into their own page.
We are Gunsmiths, Refinishers and Innovators, so there may be one section or more that might overlap in information or you may have to see two sections to get an answer. Especially if you are getting extensive gunsmithing done, you now have a choice of finishes or perhaps contrasting finishes like a Black bottom half and Chrome top. Other simple one page sites with limited quality pictures and a price list indicate the scope of their qualifications.
Furthermore we are diverse in what we do. Most places stick to one firearm they specialize in. Thats both good and bad. Many of us are diverse in our taste and interests and own more than one style of firearm. We want to deal with a Gunsmith, not an assembly line. Both our senior smiths are well schooled in all phases and styles of weaponry and with about 70 years of experience.
This page explains all that Accurate Plating and Weaponry in conjunction with the Cogan Custom Shop can do for you. Again, we are unique as we are a full service Firearms operation that can repair, refinish, refurbish, rebuild and redesign weaponry whether it be a pistol, revolver, long gun or other sporting arm. Probably one of the few or the only one in the industry that does it with the amount of finishes we have. All the work is done in house and rarely does a firearm ever leave the building for outside work.

MUST READ REFINISHING
This article is the most descriptive written paper on the basics of weapon refinishing ever offered to the consumer. It's not alchemy, but. "we have made a few silk purses out of some sows ears'. It adds life to a firearm you have had success with, almost makes it look and feel like a new firearm at a fraction of the cost. It restores pride of ownership and it's value. GUNSMITHING
What most people do not understand is the importance of the different enhancements that a custom Gunsmith can perform. Most firearms out of the box have unique characteristics, some good, some bad, sooner or later you realize a little gunsmithing can make it better. From trigger jobs to full accurizing here are some of the basic terms and pricing. Since many types of firearms make up the industry, some specific models can be altered more than others. So we categorize or highlight them for your convenience.
ENGRAVING
We create or restore the embellishments on your firearm. Many of the Logos are in stock. Rusted or severely pitted parts can sometimes be saved. We will soon post pictures of the custom engraving we can do.Most firearms are categorized by either their type, the sport they are involved in,
FIBER OPTICS
Fiber Optic Sights make a dramatic difference in picking up and focusing on the front sight. This is especially true when the shooter is under pressure in competition, hunting, or a real life threatening encounter.
PORTING
Our most common request is for porting on virtually every model and make of semi-automatics, especially Glock's and Sigs. It does really tame the 40 SW. and you really need it with the 357 SIG and 10mm versions of the GLOCKS. All other makes and models are port-able.

FIREARMS - PISTOLS
Here we break down the various types of firearms into categories and styles, usages and variants. Examples are Pistols aka semi automatics, Revolvers aka Wheel guns, And Long Guns may be Hunting, Target, or Military. Some styles have gained in popularity and their sections are separate because they crossover. The seventy year old Communist bloc SKS became an inexpensive Deer gun with our conversion and is quite popular with the 7.62 perfect for a majority of close brush hunting situations.
1911 STYLE PISTOLS -
There isn't enough room on this website or three others like it to cover everything we have done to the 1911 series. The 1911 can be adapted for Target, Carry, Personal Defense, War, Plinking, Hunting, Critter Ridder, Presentation, Collecting, and just plain Adoration. BROWNING HIGH POWER -
The High Power is the only sidearm that was used by both sides in WW2 - Germany used many Belgium HPs while the Allies used HPs manufactured mostly in Canada by Inglis. Clones of the HP are still manufactured around the world, such as the Hungarian FEG 9, and the Bulgarian Arcus, the newer versions such as the CZ-75 have great followings.
SIG, BERETTA, GLOCK, CZ AND OTHERS -
Sights, refinishing, a little action work and you'll think you have a new gun. The good part is that you can update most of it to the newer configurations with compensation and you don't have to learn too many things about it for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Also this section deals with porting.
KEL-TECS -
The Kel-Tecs 32, 380, and 9mm calibers is the light conceal carry of carry guns. The 9mm rides on my hip and 32 sits in my right front pocket. Fully loaded, these two pistols weigh only 22 ounces together. Our photographer sports a 380 either on ankle, pocket wallet or hip carry.

We do a lot of work for SWAT, OPS, LRPS, SRT, SAR, and a couple SOB's we know. Most of whom would rather not be mentioned here. They are in-country anyway.
SHOTGUNS -
We work on all makes and types of shotguns. From Hunting, Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays to IPSC and Cowboy Action. The shotgun has always been the workhorse of the firearms industry and from a few select pictures it will give you an idea of what's available in options for the shotgun of your choice.
SKS RIFLES -
Currently, SKS Rifles range in price all over the map because of popularity and price for an assault grade firearm and the economy of ownership. They were manufactured in a myriad of countries and to this day there are thousands of new ones probably buried in Chinese, eastern bloc nations and weapons caches through out the world just waiting for the next uprising or conflict. The Great Wal-Mart of China made less expensive versions. The SKS from the Russian and Yugoslavia depots is a well made rifle with the basic parts being machined, not stamped sheet metal like the AK 47. We will show you what happens to an SKS when it's converted to a economical food on the table hunting rifle.

Nothing is more fun than seeing what you can do under pressure. Shooting clubs following strict safety and training rules and offer the bang for the buck in competition, and competence in what you are doing. We have a whole section on that
Nothing in this business makes you a better shooter, person and competitor than practice.
But that is difficult to convince people of because they watched Arnold Schwarzenegger shoot seventy five guys with fifty shots, never reloading, running for his life, out gunned and out-manned and come out the winner. It's the "I can do it mentality". It usually results in shooting a bed missing the pillow by mere inches. It's called an AD. Accidental discharge. That was a term usually reserved for discussions of pregnancy. The consequences might be similar.
